Work in Progress in the Window
Ryde Arts invited practitioners working in any discipline or combination of disciplines to develop their work in a temporary studio based in Department’s window residency space, Work in Progress in the Window. The window is, by its nature, public facing and the residences were designed to expose the process of creative development to the general public. Artists were encouraged to maximise the potential of the space by using the height, walls and floors to store materials, to create work and to show the public their work as it evolves with no requirements for a final outcome. With a successful pilot in 2021 with two artists in residence , Ryde Arts was able to launch a programme of 9 new residencies for creative practitioners. W-I-P in the Window artists residencies made possible with support from Arts Council England and Ryde Town Council.
